Over 40 million people worldwide live with HIV and AIDS.
Also, here amongst us, there are many people who have lost someone through AIDS, who are living with HIV or are ill with AIDS. We want to remember those who have died and show our solidarity to the living.
To finish off Saturday evening at around 10pm, KLuST together with the AIDS-Hilfe Cologne are organising the commemoration service "Candlelight against Oblivion" on the Main Stage on Heumarkt. At the onset of darkness, as part of the text and musical contributions, visitors to the street festival will light thousands of candles and commemorate those who have died of AIDS with a minute's silence.
Hereby, the Cologne Community and its guests will show that Cologne Pride is a place to celebrate, and also a place for reflection and solidarity.
We ask all visitors to Cologne Pride and the Street Festival to support this action with a donation, a candle and participation in the commemoration service - for people with HIV and AIDS and against oblivion!
