ColognePride is the joint demonstration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender and intersexual people as well as their friends and supporters.
Unconditional social acceptance is and remains our stated aim. Likewise, ColognePride is an expression of self-confidence and zest for life.
Demonstrating together and speaking out for our claims make up the success of ColognePride, as well as its impact on society and politics.
Since 2013, ColognePride is the framework for a two-week program around CSD. In 2019 it starts on 22 June.
Hard to believe, but it’s true: Since it’s beginning, the overall responsibility for ColognePride and CSD Cologne has predominantly relied on volunteers. Founded in 1991, the Cologne Association for Gays and Lesbians (KLuST e.V.) organises one of the largest events in Cologne and one of the most successful prides in Europe.
It has been 25 years since the first CSD demonstration took place “Good friends come together” (“Jot Fründe kumme zosamme” in local dialect) was the first motto and since then we come together and celebrate a glittering festival, discuss, demand and demonstrate. More than 300 volunteers, a full time office manager as well as five board members and two advisory board members work one year long so that Cologne is in the hand of gays and lesbians for two weeks in summer.
Apart from ColognePride, KLuST in cooperation with organizations, clubs and bars of the LGBTIQ* community organizes IDAHOBIT as well as the anniversary of registration of same-sex marriage.
Since its founding, volunteer work and a solid anchor in Cologne community have determined the actions of KLuST. Apart from many single members many protagonists of the local LGBTIQ* movement shape the structure of the association.
